How did you record the podcast for Paradox ? Can you pick a record from the mix and tell us why you like it or how you found it ?

This is a live mix from the last Observe show in DTLA. It was so nice to have played many of my recent tracks including unreleased ones. One record I’d love to highlight is “Dobermann”, which is actually one of my own unreleased demo tracks. It’s a little different from my usual techno productions — I approached the bass in a way that draws more from my bass music background, rather than the more straightforward low-end I’d typically use in a techno context. I think you can hear that influence in how the bass moves and breathes throughout the track. It felt natural to slip it into this set, and I’m curious to see how people respond to it.

Tokyo-based Risa Taniguchi is a rising force in dark, edgy techno. Her signature sound blends raw textures, acid bass, and haunting vocals—as heard on standout tracks like Slipped My Mind and So Loud EP, the latter topping Beatport’s Techno chart. With releases on Second State, CLR, Kneaded Pains, and MOOD, she’s earned support from Charlotte de Witte, Amelie Lens, and Chris Liebing. A classically trained pianist, Risa brings precision and power to both studio and stage. She’s played key venues across Europe and Asia, including Watergate Berlin, Womb Tokyo, and Ultra Japan’s RESISTANCE stage. Named a Beatport Next artist and host of her own J-WAVE radio show, Risa is leading the charge in Japan’s electronic scene.
